The Diving Bell

Ed OCasey This album will likely cause chrome ghost to lose half their fanbase. But they’ll persist and gain far more than they’ll lose, new fans attending shows with grumbling “old school” fans who complain that it’s just not the same anymore. Those oldtimers are idiots. The Diving Bell is the result of a band growing into itself, the first album released in their maturity. They’ve outstripped their old sound and grown into something truly magnificent. This should be on everyone’s to-do lis Favorite track: Halo.

jeff oaster Everything comes together perfectly on this one: Extremely heavy yet very melodic. Favorite track: The Diving Bell.

269 What a record. I could wax lyrical about it's expansiveness, twists and so on. Instead I will simply suggest you listen and drown in the riffs. Recommended and essential. Favorite track: Halo.

night falls shadows bloom rise slow dance in the hillside shifting earth hums below outstretched arms drag through the water soft glow of eyes that shine dark cold shrouds all who wander obscured shapes draw near long black hair drags through the water hark! now comes the flood slow rain crushes the hillside pray they will rest well see them all dragged by the water wild rose dog’s blood pray all rest well all that once was is gone from here whispered laments fall on deaf ears washed clean of all but memory swollen in death and revery wild rose dog’s blood pray all rest well
Halo 05:51
healer weakened by the dark wild rose cloven from the torn gently as the wind had blown resting high upon your crown frail in your arms aching from the warmth bound to remain here suffer evermore suspended in this moment of loss every nerve severed and raw the door’s nailed shut chained to the bed i’m so tired my eyes shut again halo
breathe deep the only way out escapes me sinking lower in a slow dive lay here motionless alone breathe deep in waters of purity lungfuls of what is to be sinking in waters of purity lungfuls of what is to be lay here in waters of purity lungfuls of what is to be quiet weightless catatonic eyes unblinking mute and empty bury me in silt the pain comes in distant waves echoes of what once were hidden wounds voices cast out through still air listen for me calling home breathe deep
Visions 08:10
sickness floating in the eye of all men fallen tears in the well poison the crumbling earth rose in bloom thorned red and gold baby’s breath like cancer, grows fading light casts a glow over my face alone when I go bury me slowly when I go bury me slowly visions

"Chrome Ghost is going to explode. The Diving Bell is their ephemeral, untouchable, indefinite, and most perfect moment. All of their efforts, experience, dreams, and passions converge here and bring into existence a kind of art that hasn't existed before."
- Hail Yourself Metalzine

"...Chrome Ghost’s most accomplished effort to date. A triumph."
- Doomed and Stoned

The Diving Bell is a journey through deep and troubled waters, suffocated by anxiety and mesmerized by shimmering rays of light. This is Chrome Ghost at our most cinematic, with each song traveling through multiple movements, tied together by motifs and repeating phrases that develop as the track progresses. There are a lot of new sounds that have never been on a CG record before, and we hope you dig it.

As always, we try to marry heavy and oppressive music with beautiful and introspective stuff, and we think that is exemplified here more than any other work we've done. The Diving Bell was recorded in May 2019 by Patrick Hills at Earthtone in Sacramento over the course of three days. Pat also Mixed and Mastered the album.
